Classical singing is a technique used in classical music (opera, lieder, cantatas, etc.). This type of music originated in Greek classical antiquity alongside the lyre (origin of the word “lyrical”), which accompanied poetic recitations and is associated with the mythological figure Orpheus. Nowadays the term classical singing mainly refers to operatic forms (ex: drame lyrique and opera, etc.).
